PeaceTech

PeaceTech Lab works to reduce violent conflict using technology, media, and data to accelerate and scale peacebuilding efforts.
An independent nonprofit organization, the Lab brings together engineers and activists, MBAs and conflict experts, social scientists, data scientists, and other innovators to develop effective peacebuilding solutions.

When I was in washington DC I got to meet the team and understand a bit more about their accelerator. It’s the first accelerator on a global scale focussed on peace startups

What was very interesting was the number of female participants that took part in PeaceTech Exchanges.

2016
Lahore, Pakistan: 43.3%

Kabul, Afghanistan: 8.2%

Karachi, Pakistan: 62.9%

Islamabad, Pakistan: 42.4%

2017
San Jose, Costa Rica: 50%

Basra, Iraq: 41.7%

Baghdad, Iraq: 23.1%

There is a suggestion to be made that one way to attracting women to technology is to focus on how it will help impact the world in a positive way.
